Catering Assistant

Role & Responsibilities
Responsibilities

Duties include any duties associated with preparing and serving meals, cleaning up
after meals and maintaining the dining environment at the standard required by the
Nursing Home:

  • Ensure that food is presented in an appealing way
  • Seek to understand resident’s needs and requirements
  • Assist in the serving of meals and drinks ensuring that the correct meals are
    served to residents with special dietary needs
  • Report any complaints from residents, family members or staff regarding
    quality or quantity of food, menu choices, or dining room environment to the
    Head Chef immediately
  • Report all accidents or incidents to the Head Chef
  • Report any unsafe practices or broken machinery/equipment to the Head Chef,
    so that remedial action can be taken immediately
  • Use all equipment as trained observing all safe practices, so that accidents
    are avoided
  • Maintain the food serving area and dining room in a clean, safe and
    hygienic condition.
  • Take full responsibility for your allocated area of work on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that all bins are emptied, and all waste is discarded in
    the appropriate bin. (Food, Recycling, General Waste)
  • Record keeping – ensure that necessary checks are made and recorded
    in accordance with our Food Hygiene Policy.
  • Ensure food hygiene and HACCP standards are always adhered to
  • Familiarise yourself with the Food Hygiene Manual and follow the
    standards stipulated.
  • Wear enclosed, non-slip, clean black shoes & clean clothing always while
    on duty
  • Report any illness or symptoms of food poisoning or food-borne disease
    immediately to the Head Chef to safeguard the health of others
  • Ensure any cuts / broken skin is covered with blue, waterproof dressings
  • Ensure thorough and frequent hand washing
  • Adhere strictly to hygiene requirements before and after using the toilet
    accommodation.

Experience

  • HACCP: 1 year (preferred)
  • Hospitality: 1 year (preferred)

Experience

  • Kitchen: 1 year (preferred)
